Tinnitus: Multiple Causes Explained

There is some form of tinnitus millions of people suffer from but what causes this condition is a mystery. There are many things that cause tinnitus, sometimes hard to define. Ear damage is the most common cause of tinnitus. This can be caused by medical conditions such as injury or infection.

Damage to the tiny hairs found in the inner ear can cause tinnitus. When these hairs come in contact with sound waves, they will move. Motion triggers an electrical signal to be sent to your brain through the auditory nerve and on to your brain which translates it to sound.

These hairs get damaged and they send random electrical impulse to the brain causing tinnitus. Hearing loss can be just a sign of aging. Otosclerosis is often a cause of changes which occur in the bones of the ear. • An extreme quantity of built-up ear wax. Injuries either in the head or neck. Inner ear disorder is also called Meniere’s disease.

A non-cancerous tumor that develops on the cranial nerve running from the brain to the inner ear is called an acoustic neuroma. This is a condition that can be a cause of tinnitus in addition to affecting a person’s hearing and balance. Although a number of people feel that tinnitus can be caused by stress and depression, a lot of professional medical people do not think this is the case.

Tinnitus can cause a person to be stressed and depressed, making the problem worse. Tinnitus can be caused by numerous types of medications, such those used in treatment of cancer, excessive aspirin, water pills, antibiotics,Quinine. These can be continuous sounds or intermittent sounds.

Hypertention triggered high blood pressure along with stress and caffeine consumption can be some causes of pulsatile tinnitus. Aging or cholesterol build-up is due to having Atherosclerosis. The head or neck are common locations where tumors are formed. Ill-formed capillaries forming in between the arteries & the veins. There are conditions that can cause an unstable blood flow. Tinnitus can be caused by chronic health problems and exposure to loud noises. Were you aware that any kind of very loud noise that you are exposed to on a regular basis can damage your hearing? If you plan to work around machinery or spend a lot of time listening to loud music, it is highly recommended that you consider wearing ear plugs. Regarding the protection of your ears, short-term exposure to loud noises may cause only temporary problems, where as long-term exposure can do permanent damage.

The risk of developing tinnitus can be reduced when you take care of your health. To protect your hearing, always avoid loud noises, eat a proper diet and follow a regular exercise program. When involved in any activity that has the possibility of causing a head or neck injury, always wear a helmet. By keeping your ears and the rest of you healthy, the chances of you getting tinnitus are greatly reduced.
