Striae - Causes and Removal
Plenty of individuals all over the world have to deal with skin which has some kind of stretch mark. Both women and men alike, will find them showing after times of rapid growth such as puberty. Women, more often than not,as is often the case, suffer with them after pregnancy.
They occur as our skin tries to keep up with the level of growth in the muscles, bones or, in the case of pregnancy, child. Invariably however, it fails to do so and tiny splits form in the 2nd layer of skin, known as the Dermis. These tears appear as red streaks initially and change over time to a silvery colour.
The stretch marks in actual fact are areas of skin with reduced levels of collagen. As the dermis is ripped in two during the growth phase, it does not manage to restore itself so that it looks like its former state. Of course, it is only a cosmetic issue as there is little or no medical disadvantage to having these marks.
Stretch mark removal involves increasing the collagen levels within the Dermis layer of skin. This is most effectively achieved by enhancing your own physical natural ability to generate collagen as opposed to introducing it from external sources. The best technique for doing this is micro needling, using a Derma roller or other collagen induction therapies.
The other additional advantage of this type of treatment, is the way in which it boosts the effectiveness of oils and creams, such as the very popular bio oil. It gives these lotions the opportunity to penetrate the upper levels of skin far more effectively providing a much improved result.
