Inboard power plants have everything within the vessel other than for the propeller and the drive shaft that links it to the engine - ordinarily there are 2 types of strictly inboard drives, the direct drive and the v-drive. The v-drive motor is attached at the back of the vessel where the shaft extends towards the boats front making a V pattern at the rear.
