Searching for chick house designs? You might not have much luck. Numerous references over the net are intended for chicken house designs but not specifically for chicks. It is easier to just alter a chicken house design for adult chickens, integrating the unique requirements for your chicks.
Just use the plans intended for small chicken houses and modify them to become chick houses. Chicks need to be sustained totally warm and dry when they still are young and still carry their down feathers. If you have lots of rain during the spring or if you live in a place that is known for being wet, it is really significant that the chicks stay indoors to be completely dry because they can get sick and die. Down feathers are soft and do not repel water like full feathers do.
Chicks will not grow their full feather until they are about six to eight weeks of age. Once the chicks have developed adult feathers, they will want a small run. The run should be safe from predators where they scratch for feeds.
The last tip on the modified chick house design is to make it sure that you make the chick house just simple to clean up to maintain its cleanliness. You can preserve the feces for fertilizer when you clean it up. You should keep the chick house very clean and dry always and you can only do this if the cleaning process is easy. It will benefit not only the chick but also the person designated to keep the chick house clean and dry.
