Noise In the Ears, Ringing.
Almost everyone has experienced a temporary ringing in their ears due to a loud noise, or heard the rushing of their pulse in their head. Some people suffer from the negative affects with a constant ringing in their ears. Constant ringing, buzzing, or other noise in the ears is called tinnitus.
These noises do not come from the sufferer’s surroundings; rather they come from the person’s ears and may or may not be caused by a diagnosable problem. There are many known causes of ringing of the ears but for some people the underlying cause is never found. Likewise, some people can find relief through tinnitus treatments and others cannot and are forced to deal with the noise permanently.
THere are two primary types of tinnitus that are diagnosable. Which sounds like the heartbeat, is usually caused by a physical problem with the muscles near the ear, damage to the ear canal, or vascular problems in the blood vessels near the ears,noise in the ears that is pulsatile. This type of tinnitus can sometimes be cured if the damage heals or is corrected. When the injury to the ear is irreversible this type of tinnitus is permanent.
Sounds that are ringing in the ears are sometime cause of hearing loss. Nerve problems create this type of tinnitus. Result in the constant noise in one or both ears,damaged or faulty nerves send impulses to the brain. This type of tinnitus can be hard to treat and is often permanent.
Not all suffers of tinnitus are able to discover the cause for their loss, even though there are many many possible causes. Age related hearing loss is a common reason that tinnitus develops as well as exposure to loud noises such as working in a loud environment for many years or many years of iPod use. There are other common causes of tinnitus which include:
A build-up of earwax. Certain medications building up, like asprin. Damage to the eardrum or inner ear structures or frequent ear infections. Pressure changes in the environment Vascular or blood flow problems in the head or neck. Head or neck injuries Nerve problems or damage or nerve disorders. Few ailments like Aoustic Neuroma, Otosclerosis, or Thyroid ailment.
It is possible for tinnitus to fix itself with no medical treatment required. Tinnitus is a permanent condition in some patients. Other patients can find relief from symptoms, or even a cure, with proper medical attention and treatment.
It is possible to live with ringing in the ears but doing so usually requires treatment of some sort as well.
