Can “non-commercial” keywords be successful?
If you read a lot of SEO publications or blogs you often read that it is important to choose high paying adsense keyword to build sites around it and to concentrate on topics with a commercial background in order to be able to make affiliate sales and get rich quickly.
Now, is getting rich quickly all that the web is about? Or is the web not much more - a mirror of the real life? I think it is essential, that from time to time we do something “noncommercial” on the web, too.
Let me give you an example:I run a site that sells bookmarks (Lesezeichenladen.de) and in order to attract visitors I added a step-to-step guide on how to make a nice selfmade bookmark with blossoms.
when I checked the stats after a few months I noticed that I got quite a lot of hits from people who were searching for handicraft guides with blossoms in german language. Keywords like Blumen basteln and Blueten basteln suddenly appeared on my search statistics for the site.
And although this is quite off topic for my page I started to create more guides for handicrafts - just for fun. I enjoyed doing that myself - as it did not have anything to do with computers or with business - only with fun. We should not forget that part of our lives - at least from time to time…
