Curtains and drapes have the same meaning. Depending on the thickness of  material used their characteristics of absorbing heat or light vary. Light gets blocked with a drawn curtain but it filters thru a sash. One of the mot important factors to change the looks is the length of the curtain.For a relaxed casual mood choose shorter lengths. A dignified formal appearance is generated by longer lengths of material.

Do not be afraid to use bold colors. For a bit of excitement and energy to your rooms bring in bold colors If bold colors are not the look you are looking forward to, have a mix of these with subtle colors in different textures to create a similar ambience.

You do not need to be an expert to make the suitable atmosphere in your rooms. It’s simply not true that only interior decorators recognize what to do with interior decoration, blinds and furnishings. You know what works for you and you will do all those little tasks by listening to your own thoughts. In case something feels correct to you, it’s a great thing to listen to that voice. To have a natural flow, your curtains or drapes should compliment the rest of your decorating theme. For example, in my humble abode there are many nicknacks and wall pieces that are made from wrought iron. For this reason the decorative rods I choose were also made from wrought iron.  Other hardware to bring out your personality is holdbacks, finals and curtain rings. The size of hardware used should be in direst proportion to the size of the room. As such, a big room should have large accessories while small sized hardware be used for smaller rooms. As you can see, ther are lots of solutions with window treatments. Use them wisely.
